Moonshot to Milestone Toronto
On June 4, the Equality Fund hosted an intimate event in Toronto to mark this pivotal moment for our organization and community.
It was a rare and special moment to come together in person and reflect on what we have built together – a Canadian innovation for the world. Over the past five years, the Equality Fund has built a roadmap, transforming the flow of resources and power to grassroots human rights movements around the world.
The Equality Fund is Delivering
At year 5, Equality Fund has activated over $100M to over 1000 organizations across 100 countries.
Since 2019, Equality Fund has been building a model that brings leaders from movements, governments, philanthropy, investment, and innovation together. In common purpose to build momentum, to shift resources, and power women’s rights organizations and movements on the frontline of change.
Equality Fund’s model is delivering. And now is the time to double down.
Equality Fund continues to build an autonomous, independent, scalable, and sustainable powerbase. One to stand the test of time, with durable resources flowing even – and especially – in times of pushback and threats.
That’s why the Equality Fund is designed as a place where grantmaking, investment, policy, and philanthropy live and power each other under one roof.
The power of art & activism
At the Equality Fund, we believe in the combined power of art and activism. For this special evening, we incorporated special performances and art from around the world.
These artists gave us a profound reminder of the power of art to move. We know many guests commented on the stunning collection of global artwork on display and we are pleased to share more about the pieces and the incredible artists who created them. Revisit these moments here:
Molly Johnson
Singer Molly Johnson (https://www.mollyjohnson.com/), a Canadian icon with a longtime connection to the Equality Fund, mesmerized the crowd.

Red Sky
A show-stopping performance from Red Sky (https://www.redskyperformance.com/), a leader in Indigenous contemporary dance.

Gallery Installation
Throughout the room, we displayed a collection of art, commissioned by the Equality Fund and created by global feminist artists. Each original work was inspired by the theme of mobilizing for a revolution that beats from the heart.

Be part of our ambitious new goal
Looking ahead, as the world faces increasing backlash, geopolitical changes and growing threats to rights and freedoms, our mission has never been more critical.
People-powered movements must be able to count on all of us to show up more ambitious, more collaborative, and more connected than ever.
We are inviting new partners to take this momentum forward. Our next goal is to generate $120 million to surge our work at a critical moment, and stay on track toward our ambitious goal of activating $1 billion for movement leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators who are building a just future for all.
It will take all of us – connected, fortified, creative, collaborative — to join together in support of the movements who will lead our way forward. This is our invitation to new partners and allies to join us on the road ahead. Write to us at hello@equalityfund.ca. We always welcome ideas and new connections.
