Moonshot to Milestone

On March 12, the Equality Fund, in partnership with Fondation CHANEL and the Ford Foundation hosted an intimate event marking a pivotal moment in the global movement for gender equality.
This special evening, alongside the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and the 69th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, marked the Equality Fund’s fifth anniversary as a global fund transforming the way that resources and power flow into the hands of women, girls, and gender expansive people everywhere.
An extraordinary group of government leaders, philanthropists, funders, and movement leaders from across the globe gathered in shared commitment to advance gender equality, and sustainable change.
The evening marked Equality Fund’s transformative work over the past five years, recognizing the movements, voices, and stories that have shaped our journey. Together, the room reflected on collective achievements and united the important work that lies ahead.
The Equality Fund is Delivering
At year 5, Equality Fund has activated over $100M to over 1000 organizations across 100 countries.
Since 2019, Equality Fund has been building a model that brings leaders from movements, governments, philanthropy, investment, and innovation together. In common purpose to build momentum, to shift resources, and power women’s rights organizations and movements on the frontline of change.
Equality Fund’s model is delivering. And now is the time to double down.
Equality Fund continues to build an autonomous, independent, scalable, and sustainable powerbase. One to stand the test of time, with durable resources flowing even – and especially – in times of pushback and threats.
That’s why the Equality Fund is designed as a place where grantmaking, investment, policy, and philanthropy live and power each other under one roof.
Activations
Moonshot to Milestone was anchored around three sensory activations inspired by the voices and stories that have shaped narratives of change and transformation over the last five years, and exploring a future-forward vision for the next five years of action.
Gallery Installation
The Gallery Installation showcased 5 original works by global feminist artists each inspired by the theme of mobilizing for a revolution that beats from the heart—brave, hopeful, and unyielding in the fight for gender equality. Strategically placed throughout the venue, the pieces created a dynamic and immersive experience, inviting guests to engage together. The artwork served as a catalyst for conversation, inspiring dialogue on building the collective wealth, expertise, and weaving of movements for human rights.

Call to action
People-powered movements must be able to count on all of us to show up more ambitious, more collaborative, and more connected than ever.
We are inviting new partners to take this momentum forward. We are mobilizing $120 million to surge our work at a critical moment, and stay on track toward our ambitious goal of activating $1 billion for movement leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators who are building a just future for all.
It will take all of us – connected, fortified, creative, collaborative — to join together in support of the movements who will lead our way forward. This is our invitation to new partners and allies to join us on the road ahead.
